Materials Tell the Story

How do you encompass the unique personalities of the seasons without words?  As autumn is approaching here in the Midwest I am seeing the first signs of changing colors and students going back to school.

Because of the great expression that can blossom from fabrics, I thought I would take a stab at pairing these two signs of the season with textiles.  How could you use materials to tell your story without so many words?
