Inflatable Pavilion

drift pavillion

This floating environment cascades through the Pavilion entrance at the 8th Design Miami.  Designed by Snarkitecture, the “Drift”, as it is titled, incorporated reductive design methodology to create an unexpected ambiance for visitors within the space.  The entrance, containing several hundred cylinders, creates paths for circulation, varying in height and allowing natural light to filter through.

Looking at the materials, the Drift mimicks the adjacent tent with the use of white inflated vinyl.  This keeps the environment consistent, but puts more focus on ingenuity and originality. Adding to the continuity of the courtyard lounge is tubular seating, which closely mirrors the floating tubes and inspires conversation.
